Primal Spirit Foods, My Kind of Life

The name gives away any chance of surprise, except that this is a vegan jerky made from ingredients like seitan, soy and shitake mushrooms. Surprise! And surprisingly tasty.

At first glance, I thought the texture of the, “meat,” was going to make me sick before I tried it, and I swear on my life, these jerky strips are better than beef jerky and they come free of any cholesterol. The Primal Spirit jerky sticks are also all below 100 calories, which is pretty exciting given the size of the snack.

I tried the jerky out on my sister-in-law who is a complete fitness junkie and bikini athlete. She’s open to the idea of plant-based eating, but not completely there yet. That being said, she loved these jerky strips! A testament to texture and taste!

    ahahaha! I used to do the same thing with oranges at the end of soccer team meets!!! And fruit is still my favorite post-workout food 🙂

    My favorite memory is of when I ran track in high school. I was never hungry after a hard workout so my friends and I would just chill out and guzzle sports drinks. Now that I run only for fun, my snack of choice is a banana.

    There was an all vegan coffee/sandwich shop nearby and for a while I was obsessed with their sausage, egg and cheese english muffin. Oh man, I’m drooling right now.

    Yummy! – I took some of these along hiking in Colorado. A lot of the bars/snacks that are portable have sweet fruit flavors. This is a nice option for a salty craving.

    I used to eat lemon shaved ice with pieces of lemon zest in it. It was so refreshing.

    After every softball game, me and my teammates would get $2 to buy something at the concession stand. We would always put our money together and buy pizza & popcorn. 🙂

  10. My friends and I quite often share snacks while we are underground caving. In the past we’ve shared things such as cheese & crackers, pnuts, and of course chocolate. Now that I have found Primal strips I have began sharing those. My meat eating fiance loves them…!

  11. My favorite post workout snack was always the Great Harvest Bread Company bread after triathlons. I know it’s not very healthy, but after a triathlon..ain’t nothing tasting better than that free Great Harvest bread!
